Introduction

Uroflowmetry and bladder scan are simple non-invasive investigations for estimating the speed of urination and the post-voiding residual urine volume. 

 

Preparation 

Bring two litres of fluid to drink during the scan. 

 

Procedure 

  • Intake of fluids until the bladder is full
  • Void into a specially designed instrument for measuring the speed of urination and urine volume 
  • The volume of residual urine in bladder is measured using an ultrasound scan
